Welcome Class of 2017

Welcome to the University of San Diego! New to USD? Curious how Copley Library can help you succeed this year? Or are you a current student but a little unsure where everything is in the library? The librarians are here to assist you.

Starting this fall for incoming students (freshman and transfers) Copley Library is offering a Personal Librarian Program! Your Personal Librarian will keep you informed about events, workshops, and resources available at Copley Library. In addition, your Personal Librarian is on call to provide you with one-on-one assistance with your research. We look forward to seeing you at the New Student Bash: Carnival at the Library, September 6, 2:00 – 4:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for you to meet your Personal Librarian, get a tour of Copley Library, and relax after the first week of classes.

Tools to help you succeed:

  • Catalog Plus – One search box to search for library books, e-books, articles, and more.
  • Library Workshops – need help with citations, finding images, research? Register and come to a workshop.
  • Drop by and see us at the Reference Desk, send us a text at (619) 727-6652, or view questions we answered for other students at Ask a Librarian.

We look forward to getting to know you!

Summer news & gearing up for fall semester!

Copley Library has been busy this summer! It has been upgrading the catalogue (try a search on the new CatalogPlus), adding new research databases, and hiring two new librarians in key posts!

Our new librarians are Julia Hess, who started in July as the new Collections Management and Metadata Librarian, and Kelly Riddle who came in August and is the Digital Initiatives Librarian.  More on them in future posts.

As the summer comes to an end (summer school ends on August 23, 2013) and you start gearing up for the fall semester be sure to check out our Facebook, Twitter, and this blog for information on upcoming workshops, lectures, and events.

Enjoy the last weeks of summer!
