Julia Hess, Copley Library’s first ever Collection Services & Metadata Librarian resides in the Technical Services Department. She joined the Copley Library faculty in July 2013. This new position has greatly enhanced the workflow in the Technical Services.
While her title may sound complicated, her chief goal is fairly straightforward: to guarantee that books, DVDs, and CDs requested by the USD community are made available for users as quickly as possible. Julia also makes sure that records in the catalogue contain useful information for finding and identifying materials and that these records are kept up-to-date.
As USD’s Name Authority CoOperative (NACO) program cataloguer, she ensures that the university’s schools and authors are represented accurately in records in library catalogues all over the world!
If you need resources for your classes or research, please send them on to your area’s Subject Specialist (http://www.sandiego.edu/library/about/subject_specialists.php), who will pass on the information to Julia and her team to have them ordered in a timely manner.
