Monthly Archives: January 2015

Happy New Year!

Things have been quiet on campus since the winter break began, but we’re seeing students returning to campus and things are picking up here in Copley Library.

Regular hours resume next week

Copley Library will return to regular hours Monday, January 26. We’ll open that day at 7:00 a.m. and all library faculty and staff will be on hand to welcome you. Check this calendar for details.

Have you met Copley’s newest addition?

In November 2014, Copley Library welcomed our newest staff member, Leslie Hovland, to the Access Services department. Leslie joins us as the Interlibrary Loan and Reserves Assistant. Stop by to say hello!

22nd Annual All Faith Service

Join us in attending this wonderful USD tradition. Thursday, January 29, 2015 (12:15-1:15 p.m.) will mark the 22nd anniversary of a service that celebrates the unique contributions to our community by all faiths. This year’s theme is Water, a Sacred Trust. Care for God’s Creation is one of the seven themes of Catholic Social Teaching. In the encyclical Caritas in Veritate, Pope Benedict XVI said, “In nature, the believer recognizes the wonderful result of God’s creative activity, which we may use responsibly to satisfy our legitimate needs, material or otherwise, while respecting the intrinsic balance of creation,” (#48). Religion and ecology go hand in hand for faith traditions all over the world. Copley Library has several items that will help you understand the link between religious traditions and care for the earth, including the Encyclopedia of Sustainability, which devotes an entire volume to this topic.

We want to welcome back all students, faculty, and staff. We look forward to seeing you in the library this semester!
