Final exams start today, and in this post, we offer you three tips for surviving finals week at the University of San Diego.
Get a good study space
A recent article published in the Journal of Academic Librarianship demonstrates that students need a variety of study space options, including quiet and group study spaces. Copley Library’s group study rooms are always available for reservation. Additionally, other spaces at Copley Library have been designated “silent study zones” for the duration of finals (December 15th-22nd). Finally, check out these other great study spaces on campus.
Get some sleep
According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, many college students do not get enough sleep during finals week and this often has a negative impact on their grades. Thankfully, Copley Library supports the sleep schedules of early birds and night owls! In fact, we are open 24 hours each day until December 22nd when we close at 8pm. Get some exercise
A 2011 press release from the American College of Sports Medicine highlights a study presented at their annual conference demonstrating the positive relationship between regular exercise and good grades. Similarly, a 2013 study by the National Academies of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine found that exercise also improves academic success among elementary school students. If you are looking for that extra edge before your next exam, consider attending one of several exercise classes being offered by USD Recreation this week!

Copley library closes at 5pm on December 23rd and re-opens for intersession on Monday, January 4th at 8am.
