Copley Library recognizes that finals are often the most stressful time during a student’s academic career. We strive to provide resources or partner with other campus initiatives to alleviate some of this stress for students. First and foremost, the library is open 24 hours a day the week before as well as during finals. The main floor in Copley and the Mother Hill Reading Room is dedicated to silent study. Our reference librarians are available at the reference desk during much of this time (see this link for a reference desk schedule) but also can be reached through other avenues (see live chat and email reference options at this link).
We also partner every year with several organizations on campus during finals. The Associated Students provides candy and other snacks on a snack table in Copley on the main floor. The Fair Trade folks are offering coffee and chocolates in front of Copley Library on May 13 from 11am-1pm. IFC will sponsor a study break table outside Copley with coffee, hot cocoa, and snacks on Sunday, May 15th and Monday, May 16th from 8pm-10pm.
Copley Library would also like to recognize other campus resources that can support students during finals. The You Are USD website offers a variety of Finals Week resources. On this site, other campus study spaces are highlighted on a campus map, including any spaces that allow group study, food and drink, and 24-hour access. The site also links to helpful hints for taking care of yourself during the stressful finals week and improving study skills. Finally, the Torero to Go food truck will be outside the library from 9 pm to 1 am May 12 – 17.
Good luck on finals and have a great summer!
